Using Gratitude In Our Lives
This week I decided to read “The Power of Gratitude: The thankful way to a happier, healthier you” by Lois Blyth, this book is great for helping us look inward realizing how blessed we are.
I will be discussing:
1. Positively Thankful
2. Record The Good Moments
3. The Gift of Giving To Others
And be sure to read my last blog on “Book Review: Finding the Magic Inside You” & “FREE Download: November Desktop Wallpapers”.
If I could some up this book into one word it would have to be the word Gratitude: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
1. Positively Thankful
Sometimes when we are constantly busy with life, work and family it is hard for us to take a moment and embrace the good things in our lives. We should do this more frequently especially since it can boost your mood, mental health and overall well-being.
Which can increase our chances of success, by simply pausing our day to be thankful and appreciate what we have received. Whether they are tangible or intangible can help us to cope with adversity and to create and strengthen relationships.
2. Record The Good Moments
In order for us to take full advantage of the benefits of gratitude, we have to be willing to track them. This can be done using the notes app on your phone or just using an actual notebook and pen to jot down all of your blessings.
Setting reminders to track them so that you won’t forget to write them down, it’s kind of like when you have a great idea. You just have to get it down on paper or in your notes before it is forgotten forever, take a moment and at the end of the year read over them.
3. The Gift of Giving To Others
It may seem like you have nothing to give but I guarantee you that there is something you can give to others. Whether it’s a hello and good morning to a person you see on the subway or helping someone put their groceries in their car.
These little things can build up and make us feel at peace because we took the time to give to someone else. Giving back to others feels more rewarding when we actually give our time instead of giving a donation to an organization or person.
Would I Buy Or Read Again?
Can I see myself re-reading Lois Blyth’s book “The Power of Gratitude: The thankful way to a happier, healthier you” again? YES! Can I see myself even purchasing “The Power of Gratitude: The thankful way to a happier, healthier you”? No, I just don’t feel compelled to purchase this book for my personal library.
The Question of the Week is inspired by Lois Blyth’s book “The Power of Gratitude: The thankful way to a happier, healthier you”. Do you know ‘the power of gratitude’?
Answer: I do, but I also feel like there is something is pulling me away from giving back, I will try to be more purposeful in giving back.
