3 Ways To Change Your Life In 5 Seconds

This week I decided to read “The 5 Second Rule” by Mel Robbins, this book is one big wake up call and a kick in the pants to get you to stop making excuses.

I will be discussing:

1. Push Past Your Procrastination

2. Launch Into Your Best Self

3. 5 Second Mental Reset

If I could some up this book into one word it would have to be the word Reset: to set again or anew on how you do things.

1. Push Past Your Procrastination

Everyone procrastinates differently whether it’s ignoring your alarm clock in the morning or your growing to-do list.

We all have face procrastination in the same way, but it’s about how face it that makes us different. Feeling reluctant to tackle the tasks of the day, like answers emails and return phone calls.

But habitual procrastination can put entrepreneurs, visionaries and futures leaders success to a hault. By slacking on small tasks, how do you expect to handle real issues and battles in life you can’t even defeat the snooze button.

2. Launch Into Your Best Self

Do something and take action, delaying and procrastinating what’s mandatory won’t help you level up in life.

Successful people focus on the small victories in their day, instead of what battles they lost. This allows them to keep moving and stay productive,

"Once you're moving, it's easier to keep moving," Robbins added. Celebrate your small achievements, you can’t change your life overnight.

3. 5 Second Mental Reset

The 5 Second Rule is like the updated version of “Fight of Flight”, but only improved with counting backwards from five.

Doing this will shift your mind from talking your self out of it, and allow you to complete the task ahead. In these seconds you will build the strength to silence out your negative thought, worries and of course excuses.

It’s more effective when you are in motion while you say one instead of trying to buy yourself more time. This will force your instincts to activate and not look back all in a 5 second window.

Would I Buy Or Read Again?

Can I see myself re-reading Mel Robbins’ book “The 5 Second Rule” again? YES. Can I see myself even purchasing “The 5 Second Rule”? Yes, this book is worth by because sometimes in life you get into a rut and need a refresher. And I believe that this book can help you do that.

The Question of the Week is inspired by George R. R. Martin’s book “Game of Thrones”. When do you use ‘The 5 Second Rule'?

Answer: I typically use it when I have do thing I don’t enjoy like waking up early.
