Book Review: 6 Reasons Why You Should Stop Worrying & Start Living Like Dale Carnegie

This week I decided to read "How To Stop Worrying And Start Living" by Dale Carnegie as we go through the year our optimism may dim as the month's pass. The worry of not knowing if our efforts will ever get us to where we want to be and making our vision boards into a reality. Which is why I felt that this book is so important to read because all thought the month is coming to an end it does not mean that our New Year's Resolutions have to fade away. Goals & dreams take time which why we should rush them and worry anyone else's success but our own. I will be discussing Stress The Silent Killer, Get Rid Of 50% Of What Causes Unnecessary Worries, Try To Shrink Your Financial Worries, Fatigue Free & Forever Young, Start By Waking Up One Hour Earlier, Nervously Nervous. And be sure to read my last blog on "Book Review: 9 Ways To 'Crush It' In 2019" by Gary Vee & and Check out This Months Freebie January Desktop Wallpapers.

1. Stress The Silent Killer

One of the most shocking things I discovered while reading this book was just how strongly stress affects our overall health. Constant stress throughout the day it can really affect your health in serious ways and put you at risk to serious health issues. Like Increased Depression, Risk of Heart Attack, High Blood Sugar, High Blood Pressure, Fertility Problems, Low Sex Drive, Weakened Immune System, Insomnia, Erectile Dysfunction, Missed Periods. And so all of this scared me into listening to David Allen's advice because I don't want to die from the stressful or unimportant issues in my life.

2. Get Rid Of 50% Of What Causes Unnecessary Worries

So much can happen in a week and as a busy college student, I love finding hacks, apps, and tips to make my everyday life better. By adding things that take a lot of my very limited amount of time on auto-pilot I am able to put the extra time into other things I actually like doing. Things like focusing on my daily affirmations, listening to a great podcast, doing my nails, and last but not least writing a blog for the Rising to Be Blog. Some ways I'm able to do this is by meal prepping my meals and drinks (coffee & tea), auto-scheduling my social media posts with Hootsuite and creating audio notes for all of my classes with iTunes.(Youtube Video & Blog Post coming soon)

3. Try To Shrink Your Financial Worries

One way to stop stressing out is by reducing the amount things you buy and paying for unnecessary monthly subscriptions. Getting rid of cable and start using Hulu, Netflix & Sling; that gym membership you never started using, and unlimited data plans on our cell phones when wifi is all around us. Cooking at home more instead of eating out or ordering in with UberEats & Waitr, start buying things on sale instead of full price and setting bank accounts to no longer allow NSF fees (Non-Sufficient Funds).

4. Fatigue Free & Forever Young

Stress can not just affect your overall body but it can also affect your face and the aging process in your life. Although different ethnicities age faster than other stress can still become a strong factor in the overall aging process. Things like permanent dark circles, premature wrinkles, under eye bags, large pores and even adult acne.

5. Start By Waking Up One Hour Earlier

Most of the time we are complaining that we don't have enough time to get everything done, but what if we just added one hour to our day by waking up and hour earlier. As crazy as this may sound most people who wake up earlier are usually more productive than people who don't. Even people who wake up early and workout or attack their to-do list to free up the schedule for the end of the day.

6. Nervously Nervous

One of my favorite parts of this book was when Dale mentioned this incredible way to alleviate anxiety. I am in Toastmasters which is an amazing public speaking and leadership organization where you practice speeches in a positive and uplifting environment. But even though it may be a great environment I still often stumble or breathe heavily throughout my speeches, simply because I'm always critiquing myself thought my speech. Dale suggests that we think of the worst thing that can happen if we fail or do badly and also to think of what will happen if we do great. By doing this it allows my heart rate to finally get back to a regular pace and just breathe and focus on what I'm trying to say. Now, this hasn't cured my anxiety with public speaking but it has helped me and I'm still a work in process.

Would I Buy Or Read Again? I will definitely be purchasing this book for myself and others I know, I find it incredibly beneficial to my life. To go back and refer to the advice that Dale gives throughout the book. I think that this book is great for life and also my health since my mom has suffered several strokes solely caused by stress. And that is something I'm highly fearful of since I am afraid of it I often see myself stressing. Simply because I'm stressed out from not wanting that to happen to me. Genetics are strong and they follow you but as I get older my health becomes more and more important and that's why I need to buy this book and so do you. Remember Worry Gets You No Where!
