9 Books Worth Your Time Reading In 2019!

Each year we are filled so much positivity and so many of us turn to books for guidance to make our year great. So here's a list of books that are actually worth your time reading. If you have a book suggestion please let me know in the comments section. Keep 'Rising to Be' who you want to be.

The title of this book just motivates me, its called "The Power of Broke" by Daymond John, as a college I don't just feel broke but I actually am broke. I just know that this book will not only be motivating but be packed with lots of tips for your inner entrepreneur. It still amazes me that he is the only black shark on Shark Tank and since he is the only one I know his advice must be amazing.

I know it may seem clique that I even want to read Becoming by Michelle Obama since she's had such great reviews. I can assure you that I'm not recommending this book just to jump on the bandwagon, I'm recommending this book because I've read her book "Michelle Obama in Her Own Words". Not just that but she is truly a great representation of #BlackGirlMagic & #BlackExcellence, I have looked to her for many years since she has entered the White House. In case you didn't know she is actually the most educated first lady to ever step foot in the White House, and voted most admired woman, who just so happens to be black.

I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but this cover is pretty darn cute, plus its packed with important topics like gender pay gap, imposter syndrome, and being a social media influencer. It amazes me how Jaclyn Johnson was able do so much in her career and how it all started with a blog.

One question that's always on mind is retirement, although I'm in my twenties I'm always told to start saving for retirement. But never told how to get started, and so I hope that by reading this book I will be able to start my process of saving for retirement. Chris Hogan also wrote "Everyday Millionaires" and he's even apart of Ramsey Solutions by Dave Ramsey, so he must have something to say in his book.

I have high hopes for this book that I bought last year and never read, I only purchased it because the title of it caught my attention. Throughout college I've kept asking myself should I choose a career that I love and hope for happiness or should I choose a career where I'm happy and hoping the money will follow. I hope to find guidance from reading this book by before I graduate as I go on interviews for the next phase of life after graduation.

I have high hopes for this book that I bought last year and never read, I only purchased it because the title of it caught my attention. Throughout college, I've kept asking myself what's the best and fail-proof way to get from college to career. I've seen so many people filled with so much potential and do nothing with that potential once they graduate from college. This is one of biggest fears after graduation not having a plan or purpose, I do feel like this blog Rising to Be fulfills some of my purpose. But is it bad to want more, I hope through reading this book I will find some clarity on this road to graduation.

I've heard many great things about this author and when I discovered that this book even inspired Daymond John's new podcast, I just knew I had to read it. I'm sure that this book will not only be motivating but be packed with lots of tips for your inner entrepreneur. It still amazes me that he is the only black shark on Shark Tank and since he is the only one I know his advice must be amazing.

I've been dragging my feet on reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad" I just have always thought that this book would be one large compare and contrast between Rich Dads & Poor Dads. But from everyone I've talked to about this book, they insist that its way more than what I think. And there is so much wisdom underneath the cover of this book.

If you haven't heard of Stacey Abrams I don't know where you've been, she ran for governor of Georgia in 2018. Although she lost the election her determination to push on still motivates me today, which is why I'm deciding to read her book this year. I want to get know more about her even though I don't live in Georgia, she still makes an impact on me in Louisiana. She is just another great example of #BlackExcellence & #BlackGirlMagic.

I just had to add this book to the list, and I'm pretty sure you won't mind me adding it once you read the book for yourself. Everyone wants to be a millionaire so when I heard about this book, somehow Chris Hogan makes becoming a millionaire an achievable task. Chris Hogan also wrote "Retire Inspired" and he's even apart of Ramsey Solutions by Dave Ramsey, so he must have something to say in his book.

If you have any book suggestions add them below in the comments, and look out for new book reviews every Sunday. And remember “As we ‘Rise to Be’, we are becoming who we want to be” -Christina B. Rising🤗
